Carrying the card is a good start - but you need to register too.

The European Heart & Lung Transplant Games are held every two years and this year (2010) the 13th Games will be held in the beautiful city of Växjö which is located in the south of Sweden in an area called Smãland - the spelling is peculiar even by Swedish standards .

For more information on Växjö and surrounding area, go to the Municipality of Växjö web site.

This is the first time since their inception in 1989 that the Games have been staged in Sweden. Hosting the 2010 Games is the National Heart and Lung Transplant Association, VIKING.

The Games begin with the opening ceremony and parade
on Wednesday 30th June
and end with the closing ceremony and gala dinner
on Sunday 4th July 2010.

For any first timers or those who are 'just thinking about it' and would like  more information, please contact Freeman Sports Team Manager, Graham Marsh for a chat.   No selection is required.

Medical Form

Important:   Graham Marsh, Freeman Sports Team Manager, will be sending out a letter / Email to past, present and new team members with deadlines for forms and payment schedules etc in January.   Please ignore the dates in the above documents because they are for the GB Team Manager only.   The dates we will have to meet will be at least 3 weeks earlier.

The GB Team is managed by David Walker and we (Freeman transplant patients) automatically become members of the British Heart & Lung Transplant Association -  BHLTA.

Our own Judith Burgess is secretary.   Graham Marsh and Joan Whitney also sit on the committee of the BHLTA.

Have a look back at the last European Heart & Lung Transplant Games which were held in Vichy France.   The official website contains a full list of all results:
