Transplant Cricket Tour Great Britain v Australia
I have been asked by Lynne Holt from Transplant Sport UK to give the following details of a cricket tournament, planned for June/July 2011 between the Great Britain Transplant Cricket Club (GBTCC) and the Australian Transplant Cricket Club (ATCC): Dear All You may already be aware that the ATCC will be touring England next year between 24th June and 9th July inclusive. The main purpose of the tour is to raise transplant awareness and increase the number of people signing onto the NHS Organ Donor Register. In that regard, the ATCC will be playing a number of matches against able-bodied teams whose members, we believe, will spread the word of transplant need and benefits to their families, friends, work colleagues and the like. That has certainly been the situation in Australia since the commenced playing able-bodied teams in 2008. Of course, their most important foe is the Great Britain Transplant Cricket Club (GBTCC)!! The ATCC are hoping to schedule their entire tour based on the availability and most suitable dates for the GBTCC team. Please see below the itinerary which Jeff Sewell (Australia) has organised so far. It is hoped that we can provide a team to play at least on the red highlighted dates below. Please respond to me and advise me of your interest to be copied into further emails, but more importantly to advise me of your own availability. It would be useful to have phone numbers also. Please also advise anyone who you think may be interested in playing cricket for the GBTCC against the ATCC, to similarly correspond with me by email or by phone. You can contact me on 07900014344. I really look forward to hearing from you. Lynne (Transplant Sport UK) Itinerary 2011 Due to the need to confirm fixtures (rather than loose the opportunity to play matches) the ATCC itinerary has been set as follows: Friday, 25th & Saturday 26th June - arrival and tour of London Sun 26th June - Hambledon CC Mon 27th June - Lords visit/Tour and 3pm Reception at the Australian High Commission Tues 28th June - Australia v Barmy Army Wed 29th June - to Newcastle - visit York (and potentially Durham) en route Thurs 30th June & Fri 1st July - Newcastle - hopefully 2 day "Test" v GBTCC Fri 1st July - Graham Marsh and David Hookes Tribute Dinner - Newcastle Sat 2nd July - Travel to Oxford and tour of Oxford ("Gown & Town") - courtesy of Alan Dowding Sun 3rd July - ATCC v Rangers (Oxford) Mon 4th July - ATCC v Sussex Marlins (to be confirmed) Tues 5th July - to be confirmed
